With Apologies to Bon Jovi

Altogether ladies.......OOOOOOOO we're halfway theeerree, OOOO living on a, only me OK then. Not a problem.

Yes I'm halfway done on all my blocks and they are looking quite good together on my bed.

I've also completed the other large star points so each block looks like this so far

I'm keeping all the bits for each block together by attaching them with a binding clip as I don't have a design wall. I find this the easier way of keeping all the bits together.

I've cut out the remaining blocks ready to sew ( My back may never forgive me)

and this will be the weekends/next weeks job. I'm hoping to be ready to turn the blocks into a top next weekend.

This was my pile of fabrics at the start of the quilt

And here's what's left

This is all the white that's left from 7.5 metres. Now that's a close call.

Back to Sewing

After my brief interlude into baking I'm back to Sleeping Under The Stars.

I'm working on the big star at the moment.

So far I've turned this pile

 into these

And this

 into this pile.

I'm hoping today to get the centre stars attached to the main star points today. Once done it means I've got near enough half of each block done. I'm still on target for an October finish. I do need to order more background fabric though. I can't believe I've used up 5 yards already.

And finally Cakes

Well seeing as the title of the blog is Quilts and Cakes there seems to have been quite a few quilts but very little cakes lately. That is about to be rectified.

Thursday I decided to have a baking day. I tend to completely go overboard with the baking. One cake is never enough. To be fair though by the time hubby and daughter have taken some into their works, family have had their share and any waifs and strays decide to show up because they've heard I'm baking take some we are lucky if we get to keep a quarter of what I bake. Not that I mind as I do enjoy baking and like that people get pleasure from it.

First up is Chocolate Orange Brownie

A bit strong on taste but great served warm  with cream or custard.

Next we have a ton of cupcakes.

Spiced apple and sultana with white chocolate topping.

Cappuccino cupcakes with vanilla icing and cocoa dusting, sprinkled with choc chipc

Mars Bar cupcakes.
Chocolate cupcakes with a caramel centre, Choc fudge topping and a slice of mars bar.

Custard cream cupcakes.
Vanilla cupcake with custard centre. Vanilla and custard cream icing and custard cream biscuit decoration.

And finally choc chip cookies and white choc and raspberry cookies.

This'll keep everyone going until next week when the tins will be ready to be refilled.
