Ombre Gems Quilt Along

As I've mentioned a few times I'm a sucker for a QAL or BOM. At the moment I'm taking part in four quilt alongs and come June will be adding two BOMs to that list,

First up is the Ombre Gems Quilt Along primarily being held via Instagram (#ombregemsquiltalong) but also found on Emily's blog  Quilty Love

This is a relatively relaxed quilt along with weekly goals. The idea being to use the Ombre Confetti fabric. I did seriously consider this until I saw the new Moda Watercolour range, Two Jelly Rolls later and I'm away.

Week one was to cut the fabrics and make a practice block ( more on that in another post).

There's 800 2.5" white squares in that basket. At least I hope there is.

Week two was to make up the Pink blocks

Week three to make up the reds/oranges and yellows

And this week, week four was to make up the green tone blocks.

As you can see there's nothing too strenuous about this QAL. There will be a total of 40 blocks at the end and they will all be trimmed square. I  know some are trimming as they go but I'm leaving mine until the end as I don't want to risk any stretching of the bias edges while they are being stored.

  2. These blocks are gorgeous. It will be fun to watch the progess. I think those are a fair amount of blocks for each week - maybe not strenuous but significant!
